Participants shall be exposed to the diverse Mediterranean cultures through a voyage of their natural produce, herbs, spices and cuisine. They will be introduced to the art of Mediterranean cooking and its nutritional values and will practice new culinary methods under the careful guidance of a well known chef from a renowned cooking college.

 

During the cooking sessions, participants will prepare and savour various Mediterranean and Maltese mouth-watering dishes in a converted 300 year old traditional mill house that embeds Maltese rural culture within its limestone walls.

Moreover, participants will visit a vine yard to learn all about the art of wine making, the fermentation process, the varieties of grapes grown in Malta and will be invited to taste and comment on a variety of select Maltese wines.

 

They will be guests at a traditional olive oil Mill in the countryside to discover the method of olive pressing and the process of olive oil blending, savour from a variety of olive oils, and prepare delicious Maltese snacks.

 

On another event participants are shown round an apiary where they will glimpse into the bees’ extraordinary world, and listen to an experienced bee keeper carefully demonstrate the various techniques involved in the process of honey making and bee keeping.

 

Additionally, participants will call on the fish, meat and vegetable local markets where they are introduced to the different natural produce of the season and purchase fresh ingredients for the cooking sessions, while at the agricultural centre they will learn more about animal husbandry and vegetable farms in the Mediterranean.
