While artists design magnificent pieces of art and craftsmen create artefacts that together project a cultural manifestation of a nation, participants will here step into the artist’s and craftsman’s worlds and personally design and create their own work with their own hands and under professional guidance.

Participants following this module will meet with various talented artists and craftsmen and practise their profession in their personal workshops, making a variety of artefacts that they will take home with them as souvenirs of Malta. They will have a hands-on involvement in painting on canvas using brush and air-brush techniques, sculpturing soft Maltese limestone employing traditional implements used in the building trade, kneading clay at the pottery, moulding it into ceramic earthenware, painting it and finally baking it, blowing semi-liquid glass into attractive colourful ornaments, shaping silver filigree into personal gifts, manipulating cotton bobbins into lace and knitting wire into granutel, a decorative craft unique to Malta.

The other component  of this Module takes participants to the local theatre scene to enjoy spectacular performances, amongst which at the oldest theatre in Europe built in 1732 by Grand Master Manoel de Vilhena, and to museums of fine art where they familiarise themselves with Maltese riches from antiquity.
