The Christ the Saviour statue was sculpted thanks to the contribution of one ‘sold’ from every Maltese citizen. In 1901 it was elevated on the Church of St. Mary in Tal-Virtu’ Rabat, but had to be removed in 1935 due to damages in the dome. With the financial help of NSTF, the statue was restored and transferred to its present location at the Archbishop’s Seminary at Tal-Virtu’ Rabat.
